Our Reconditioning Process
Rainbow's in house Technical Center makes us stand out from the rest. We have a large facility that allows our service Technicians to perform at their highest abilities. Paying attention to detail is our number one priority in the refurbishment process. Following is a 5 step process that Rainbow strictly abides by with each reconditioning process.
| Step 1 |
Machines are received at our reconditioning facility. They are immediately uncrated, unpacked and audited for completeness. A thorough audit is conducted, with close attention to completeness as well as features and controller type. At this time we confirm power cables, manuals, cabling, standard features, additional features, connectors, RISC box. These items are noted and if in acceptable condition, machines are sent to the stage area where exterior panels as well as interior covers are pulled. Once the panels and covers are pulled this then gives our experienced Technician full access to the machines to be able to perform the thorough cleaning needed. If machines are in a non-acceptable state these machines are then tested and broken down as parts machines.
| Step 2 |
Next the machines are thoroughly cleaned with several styles of vacuum to get to those hard to reach places and eliminate any existing paper dust,
oils, toner and developer. Once machine has been gone through explicitly we then pay special attention to assemblies by removing them and cleaning them with isopropyl alcohol and blowing off with compressors. After the extensive interior cleaning of the machine is completed, the assemblies are cleaned, audited and tested for wear and functionality. Once assemblies have passed standards they are then installed back into the machine. If they do not meet standards they are replaced and reinstalled.
| Step 3 |
Next the machine is thoroughly gone through to determine condition of all preventative maintenance items, such as, drums, fuser rolls, backup rolls, fine filters, scuff rolls, pinch rolls, pressure rollers, voltage on lasers and more. If these items are worn or don't meet IBM standards these items are replaced in every machine. Our standards are above the rest and if questionable there are no questions asked. The preventative maintenance items are a key roll in our reconditioning process as they are a direct relation to print quality and functionality of the machine. These items need to be above par for our next step which is running the machine and getting good print quality for IBM certification.
| Step 4 |
Once the cleanings and preventative maintenance parts are to standards the machine now can be powered up to run diagnostics for the first time. Our experienced Technician will then run diagnostics and work through any possible bugs. Once diagnostics are successfully completed, we then power up the machine. Once powered up we print test pages, and make all necessary alignments and adjustments for print quality. We pay close attention to mechanisms in the paper transport, developer, laser and fuser area. We test the laser for minimum power and rebuild or replace any items if necessary. Again, this is an extensive testing process as thousands of pages are run through these machines to ensure the highest quality print.
| Step 5 |
Once printer has passed the checklist of our experienced technician the newly painted panels are put on as finishing touches. The machine is tested once more with panels installed and an IBM Technician onsite. IBM runs all necessary diagnostics and tests needed to meet IBM MSQ qualification for certification. Once this is complete we do a final vacuum and clean. IBM then disassembles the printer and packs to IBM standards by palletizing, corner-boarding, shrink-wrapping and finally crating the machine. Once the disassembly and packing process is complete, IBM fills out necessary paperwork with all pertinent information which is then turned over to Rainbow Computer and a copy is packed with the machine showing customers who did the IBM Certification process.

| Why Rainbow Computer Technology Stands Above the Rest |
The ability to have quality control by having our own Technical Services facility located right here in Eagan, MN. Rainbow's products are a direct reflection of our customer satisfaction. Rainbow takes the extra step with special attention to detail and cosmetics of every machine. Rainbow has partnered with an experienced Paint Company who insists on perfection of the outer cosmetics to acquire the "like new" status. The panels are sprayed with a color and texture that was scientifically designed to meet the highest IBM standards of quality. The panels are then baked at a high temperature to cure the paint to the metal for a longer lasting durable finish. By utilizing a polyurethane paint allows Operators the ease of cleaning toner and dirt from the panel surfaces and maintaining the "like new" finish. Rainbow takes extreme measures to ensure quality product and ensure customer satisfaction.
